With stunning, deep rich color and exceptional durability, Ipe Wood (pronounced E-Pay) is the perfect deck product for Western North Carolina mountain homes. Also known as Brazilian Walnut or Lapacho, Ipe is resistant to insects and rot. It holds up extremely well in our four season climate; tolerating our warms summers and the snow of the winter months. Maintenance is minimal, but if you would like for it to retain its distinctive red-brown coloring, annual or bi-annual application of a protective UV coating is required; otherwise it will gray with age. Miniminal graining in the wood allows it to lean both traditional and modern in appearance, matching different exterior finishes.
This deck installation spans the entire rear of the home and wraps around to the side entrance. Sitting outside next to the stacked, fieldstone fireplace, enjoying the mountain view will be the perfect way to cap any day!
