Unique and custom details define this home renovation project. This week we are watching the completion of the installation of a custom metal stair rail. The artisan, fabrication of the new railing has a tree and branch motif with delicate grass and reed details. In a black finish, the railing is used both as the handrail for the staircase, as well as the railing at each of the landings in the multi-story staircase. Fabricated off-site, the installation process took several weeks to complete because of the carefully design layering of the elements to create a three-dimensional rendering. The live edge, branch extensions are woven in over the stacked stone wall to give the illusion of the tree growing roots within the homes structure. This feature is a stunning work of art. Fabricated by a local blacksmith shop, Screaming Hot Ironworks, the design was a collaboration between the homeowner and shop owner, Todd Miller.
